Do I Need a Lawyer to Help My Organization With Parliamentary Law?
Return to FAQ VideosTranscript:
Not necessarily, but it’s a good idea to have a lawyer draft your bylaws because the bylaws control what parliamentary law will be applied at your meetings. You have choices of different styles of parliamentary law. A lawyer is going to know which style of parliamentary law works best for your organization, and can include that in the bylaws of your organization. This becomes particularly important if your organization is large and may have difficult or contested issues at its meetings. If there are contests at the meetings, then you’re going to want a good set of parliamentary laws to govern them and to keep everything orderly.
