Robert’s rules are important because they control the proceedings of any meeting of an organization that uses men as its parliamentary authority. They will define the rights of members to speak, the rights of members to discuss and debate. At the end of the meeting, the decisions that are made by majority vote. The principle of rule by majority is the principle of course, in basic democracy. That’s the most important single principle in Robert’s rules of order.
